This fascinating full-day ride consists of three important attractions: the Salineras salt mines, the small village of Maras, and the archeological site of Moray. We will discover these sites by following paths that connect us to pre-Incan history.
The ride begins at our Ranch, located in the small community of Pichingoto in the district of Maras, where we will review basic riding instructions. We will then ride up a steep path to the Salineras salt mines, where we will learn how the salt is produced and observe how the salt is collected by hand. Afterwards we will continue riding up to the quaint, colonial village of Maras and stop to have our picnic lunch surrounded by the snow-capped mountains of the Andes. We will then ride the horses through the valley to the archeological site of Moray, where we will stop to visit its impressive architecture and native crops.
After we have explored Moray, the ride continues across open plains and then descend into the valley to reach the ranch in Pichingoto, where we will have spectacular views of the mountains.
Entrance ticket to the Pichingoto community and Salineras salt mines, snack and drinks, picnic lunch, bilingual guide, carrier, safety helmet, and round-trip transportation to/from anywhere in Cusco or the Sacred Valley.
